Chemical Composition and Characteristics  

Normally 321 and 321H slitting coil chemical composition contains 17 to 19 percent chromium, 9 to 12 percent nickel, and titanium added at a minimum of five times the combined carbon and nitrogen content. The addition of titanium distinguishes these grades from standard austenitic stainless steels like 304 and 316. The coils have good weldability, formability for bending and roll forming, good oxidation resistance and mechanical properties at room and elevated temperature. The material is nonmagnetic in annealed condition.


321 and 321H slitting coil covers the normal specification ASTM A240. For the boiler and pressure vessel code , the equivalent code is ASME SA240 . These specifications verify the chemical composition, mechanical properties and heat treatment requirements of the material. Each coil is supplied with a mill test certificate to ensure traceability and quality compliance.
