Jindal SS 304 Sheet Price Per Kg — Overview
Jindal 304 (UNS S30400) is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel in India’s fabrication and process industries. Jindal Stainless, the country’s largest flat-product manufacturer, produces 304 sheets conforming to ASTM A240 / ASME SA240 with consistent mechanical properties, superior surface finish and reliable corrosion resistance across a broad range of service environments.
Abhay Steels maintains one of India’s most comprehensive inventories of Jindal SS 304 sheets, plates and coils, stocking thicknesses from 0.50 mm through 50 mm in 2B, N1, N4, BA and No.8 mirror finishes. This Jindal 304 sheet price list is updated monthly to reflect current mill base prices, nickel surcharges and applicable extras, so buyers get accurate rates for procurement planning rather than a stale published list.
Current pricing for Jindal SS 304 sheets ranges from approximately ₹218 to ₹258 per kg, depending on thickness, finish, edge condition and width. Cold-rolled 2B sheets in the 0.50–4 mm range and hot-rolled N1 plates from 3–50 mm are available ex-yard with same-day dispatch on stocked sizes. Extras apply for widths above 1250 mm, dual certification and specialty finishes including N4+PVC.
Jindal 304 resists atmospheric corrosion, moderately oxidising acids and most organic chemicals encountered in food processing, dairy, pharmaceutical and architectural applications. Its combination of excellent formability, weldability in the as-received condition and cryogenic toughness makes it the economical default for general-purpose stainless steel requirements. Where chloride exposure is a factor, buyers usually step up to Jindal SS 316.

How to Calculate Jindal SS 304 Sheet Price
Stainless steel is sold by weight, not by area, so the sheet price depends on how much the sheet weighs. Two formulas cover almost every enquiry:
Sheet weight formula
Weight (kg) = Length (m) × Width (m) × Thickness (mm) × 8
Example: a 2500 mm × 1250 mm sheet at 2 mm → 2.5 × 1.25 × 2 × 8 = 50 kg.
Sheet price formula
Price = Weight (kg) × Rate (₹/kg) + applicable extras
Continuing the example: 50 kg × ₹223.89 = ₹11,194 per sheet, before GST and transport. If the same sheet were ordered in 1500 mm width, add ₹2/kg; if in 304L, add a further ₹2/kg.
Converting to price per square foot
A 4ft × 8ft sheet is 32 sq ft. Divide the sheet price by 32 to get the rate per square foot — so a 1 mm 4×8 sheet at ₹5,332 works out to roughly ₹166.62 per sq ft.

| 2B (CR) | Cold rolled, annealed, pickled, skin-passed | Smooth, semi-reflective grey | General purpose sheet, kitchen equipment, process vessels, 0.50–4 mm |
| 2E | Cold rolled, annealed, mechanically descaled | Matte, dull | Where the surface will be painted, coated or further processed |
| N4 | Mechanically brushed with abrasive belt | Uniform satin, directional grain lines | Architectural cladding, lifts, railings, furniture |
| N4+PVC (N4P) | N4 brushing plus protective PVC film | Satin, film-protected until installation | Interiors, elevator panels, decorative work where scratch protection matters |
| BA | Bright annealed in controlled atmosphere | Bright, highly reflective | Appliances, reflectors, decorative trims |
| No.8 Mirror | Progressive polishing to mirror gloss | Mirror-like, near-perfect reflection | Signage, feature panels, premium architectural work |
Jindal 304 vs 304L vs JT Grade — Price and Performance
| Grade | Key composition | Price basis | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jindal 304 | Cr 18–20%, Ni 8–10.5%, C ≤0.08% | Base rate (₹218–₹258/kg) | General purpose: food, dairy, pharma, architecture, process equipment |
| Jindal 304L | Same as 304 but C ≤0.03% | 304 + ₹2/kg | Heavy welded fabrication where post-weld annealing is not possible |
| Jindal JT | 200-series, low nickel, manganese bearing | Below 304 — quoted on request | Decorative, furniture and indoor use where corrosion load is light |
| Jindal 316 / 316L | Adds Mo 2–3% for chloride resistance | Well above 304 — see 316 price list | Marine, coastal, chemical and chloride-rich environments |
If a supplier quotes a rate materially below the 304 list above, it is usually JT or another 200-series grade rather than genuine 304. Always ask for the Jindal mill test certificate and check the chemistry, particularly the nickel content, before comparing prices.

A 4ft × 8ft Jindal 304 sheet in 2B finish weighs 23.81 kg at 1 mm thickness, so at ₹223.89/kg it works out to roughly ₹5,332 per sheet, or about ₹166.62 per square foot. A 2 mm 4×8 sheet weighs 47.63 kg and costs approximately ₹10,664 per sheet.
What is the difference between Jindal 304 and 304L stainless steel?
Jindal 304L is a low-carbon variant (C ≤0.03%) that offers improved weld-zone corrosion resistance without post-weld annealing. Pricing: 304L = 304 price + ₹2/kg. Both grades are stocked by Abhay Steels with Jindal MTC.
What is Jindal JT grade and how does it compare to 304?
Jindal JT is a low-nickel, manganese-bearing 200-series austenitic grade used for decorative, furniture and low-corrosion applications. It costs significantly less per kg than 304 but offers lower corrosion resistance, and is not recommended for food, dairy, pharmaceutical or coastal outdoor use, where 304 remains the correct specification. See our Jindal JT grade page for current rates.
What is the difference between N1, 2B and N4 finish in SS 304?
N1 is a hot-rolled, annealed and pickled finish with a dull grey non-reflective surface, used for plates from 3 mm upward. 2B is a cold-rolled, annealed, pickled and skin-passed finish with a smooth semi-reflective surface, the standard for sheets 0.50–4 mm. N4 is a mechanically brushed satin finish, and N4+PVC (N4P) adds a protective PVC film for architectural and decorative work.
