310/310S slit coils are rated for continuous service to 1100°C (2000°F) and intermittent service to 1150°C (2100°F). This makes them the material of choice for the manufacture of furnace interior components such as radiant tubes, muffle furnace liners, combustion chambers, kiln furniture, and burner nozzles. They also are good with thermal cycling, a concern for equipment that heats and cools repeatedly in use. Many grades that perform well at constant elevated temperatures will crack or scale when subject to repeated temperature swings. 310/310S doesn't suffer that problem.

The high chromium content (25%) makes 310/310S highly resistant to oxidizing gases, sulfidation, and carburizing atmospheres. This grade is used in petrochemical plants and chemical processing units that operate reactions at high temperatures for reactor components, piping, and heat exchanger parts. It is used in process equipment for cement plants and steel mills exposed to heat and chemically aggressive flue gases. It also resists scaling and thermal fatigue, increasing intervals between maintenance and decreasing replacement costs.

Slitting Coil Format and Why It Works for Manufacturing

Slitting is the process of converting wide master coils into precision-width strips to close tolerances in width. For manufacturers that operate automated stamping lines, roll-forming equipment, or coil-fed press operations, receiving material in slit coil format means no secondary cutting steps are necessary at all. The edge quality is consistent over the entire coil length, and the strip width is held within a ±0.10mm tolerance. This consistency reduces setup time and scrap on the shop floor.

310/310S strip has useful tensile strength at elevated temperatures where carbon steels and lower alloy grades rapidly lose it with increasing temperature. The tensile strength in the annealed condition is usually in the range 515–690 MPa, with a yield strength of about 205 MPa. It is sufficiently ductile to be cold-formed, stamped, bent, and roll-formed without cracking and will weld cleanly with standard austenitic filler materials. This combination of formability and weldability is crucial for complex fabricated parts such as heat treatment baskets, conveyor belts, or annealing covers.

310/310S Slitting Coil Industrial Applications

310/310S slitting coils are used by furnace manufacturers for radiant tubes, muffle liners, retort shells, and hearth plates. They are used in thermal processing plants for heat treatment baskets, annealing covers, and furnace conveyors. They are used by the petrochemical industry for reformer elements, cracker tube supports, and high-temperature piping assemblies. This grade is also used for power generation equipment, particularly gas turbine ducting and boiler internals. ASTM A240 is used for internal fixtures subject to heat and abrasive dust in cement and lime kilns. Burner manufacturers use the slit strip form for burner nozzles and combustion chamber liners in the automotive and industrial field.

Abhay Steels is a slitting coil supplier in 310 and 310S grades as per ASTM A240, ASTM A167, and EN 10088 specifications . The equivalent UNS designations are S31000 for 310 and S31008 for 310S. The DIN designation is 1.4845 for 310S . Available in both hot-rolled and cold-rolled conditions. Surface finishes are No. 1 (hot-rolled annealed and pickled), 2B (cold-rolled), and brushed finishes. Each lot is accompanied by complete mill test certificates showing chemical analysis and mechanical test results.

Coils are available from 0.30mm to 6.00mm in thickness and 10mm to 1500mm in slit width. Common decoiling equipment uses a 508mm standard internal bore. We can accommodate non-standard slit widths, custom coil weights, and mixed-width orders for project-specific requirements.

Abhay Steels is a manufacturer, supplier, and stockist of 310 and 310S stainless steel slitting coils. We have ready inventory for fast dispatch and indent production for custom dimensions. Prior to dispatch, the coils are wrapped with edge protection and moisture-resistant wrapping. We serve fabricators, OEMs, engineering companies, and trading houses throughout India.
