SS 410 stainless steel sheet is resistant to atmospheric conditions, chemicals, and water. It can be used in the atmosphere that is containing a weak or diluted acetic acid, sulfuric acid, and nitric acid. The alloy is resistant to the foods containing acids. 410 SS can be used in the de-aerated water or chlorinated water. It works very well in gas and an oil application wherein de-aerated and low hydrogen sulfide exists. The alloy is fully prone to the chloride attack, especially in the oxidizing atmosphere. This alloy is resisting oxidation to temperature 700 Deg C consistently and to 816 Deg C on the intermittent basis.

409M grade ferritic stainless steels (FSS) widely used for the manufacture of coal wagons for transporting iron ore. The different parts made from 409M grade are box body (including the inner and outer walls, floor plate and wagon under-frame), vertical side stanchions and flab doors [1].
